Regarding the quality of the original photo and our goals.

All photos for any style may be sent for a free evaluation We are more concerned with harsh shadows then anything else. T there is no need to worry about anything in the background. That's basically it, regarding the composition of the photo.

Hair Hair may even be out of place because we create streaks or waves that depict your image (see below). Use the pose you like best

Smoothing out irregularities We can work with unflattering photos and still make art (see the photo below). We prefer to make the subject look smother and sleeker then in real life. There is a feature in our computer that smoothes out wrinkles and creases. Please let us know in advance if you have a concerns.

We can even change the prospective (angle) the subject is facing, using the latest computer software. You may submit a photo where the subject is looking forward or off to the and we can make it into a profile. A small extra charge of ten dollars will be applied for this service to cover our time.

The very best sculptors take two to seven days to sculpt a face. This equates to many hundreds of dollars in time. Because of computerization, patented process and our eye for detail we can make a relief ready for our machines to carve in less then two hours. The carvings are repeatable, changeable and resizeable. The many extra hours you normally pay for a sitting are unnecessary. We would rather bring our art to the people and make it possible for most anyone to become sculpted then to charge high amounts and be restricted to a few jobs a year.

Why small carvings may cost as much as larger ones.

The silver relief requires a smaller tool (close-up photo) to create smaller details. The larger tool will skip over valleys in the silver relief. Because the smaller tool is more fragile it must travel at significantly slower speeds or it will break.

Conversely, the smaller tool adequately carves the larger gold relief but with slower speeds it takes five times longer then the larger tool. So as you can see, sometimes it takes longer to carve a smaller relief then a larger one because of the size and speed of the tool.

Part of what we do is program each machine to cut different relief's at various speeds, directions, heights and number of passes required.

The original photo is in the lower right corner. As you can see we did not take a very good photo that day, the subjects hair is flat and there are unsightly lines along the neck, but look what it became. Our process lends itself to what is commonly referred to as "Artistic License". Our interpretation of art is to make the finished art look timeless without loosing the subjects individuality.
If you look at our process like having jewelry made then you know a custom ring, with no precious gems, may run several hundred dollars because of the time it takes to hand carve and finish. Fortunately, we are using computerized machines to carve your relief which saves lot's of time compared to a traditional sculptor. We gladly pass the value along to you in the hopes that you will recommend us to your friends.

We hope this explains our overall price structure concerning design and machining costs. Incidentally, 99 percent of the time we will need to change the programing if two (or more) different sizes are ordered. If we don't do this, the smaller relief's will have no detail and the larger relief's will take an exorbitant amount of time to complete with no added benefit.

Here are other examples of how a picture is made into a relief (before and after). Please remember that our computer does not invent features which are not there originally. If you are camera friendly you will be carved that way, if not, our programs will reduce wrinkles and lines however we can not make you more beautiful then you already are.
